Price

I had a recent experience with a craigslist ad that said "make offer". The chair was the perfect one for my office and I clicked the link about twenty times over the course of a week admiring it, however I could not get my cursor to engage the respond button, deterred by my unwillingness to palter over and either offend it's owner or unnecessarily exhaust my wallet.
So, that said I am going to throw a price out there that I feel is fair for my house. I had a local real estate agent give me this figure when the market was much less stable, so I feel comfortable with it. That price is......... $129, 900.
I hope that helps any of you who are looking and considering feel more comfortable about doing so. And, as I mentioned before I would prefer to see this house in the best possible hands and would therefore consider other offers for the right person or family of course.

Maine Mission

This is the story about a little house in Maine.  It started with a field of wildflowers and watching the sun move across the property, studying its every move, which would eventually serve as the house's power.  It started with the hope to re-purpose all of the materials I watched get tossed out working as a cabinet and boat builder.  And it was fueled by the desire to cultivate all of my training in woodworking and boat building to create my own safe haven.  I wanted to create a house that felt like I was living in a boat, but could grow roots into the ground in which I had fallen so deeply in love with.

And that became the next two years of my life.  I spent every night and every weekend carefully constructing handmade pieces out the scraps of native New England woods that would help to create my customized vision.  Fir, cherry, birch, maple, quartersawn oak, was given new life as it slowly turned back into my walls, my floors, my doors, my cabinets, and my furniture.  And then became the challenge of maximizing my living space within just 800 square feet of house.  And I did it, and it was wonderful.  Everything had its place while still maintaining a simple open feeling.  And I had everything I needed.  Most of all, I had completed the journey that I needed to embark on to find myself, my balance, and my priorities.

The house is self sufficient.  While it can be easily tied into the grid , it can also run completely off the grid, connected to 4 solar panels, and includes a propane tank to supply and heat and hot water, as well almost all of the appliances.  There is a 1/2 acre of the 2 acre lot dedicated to an organic garden.  And let's not forget the chicken coop big enough for a family of 12!  The property itself abuts 100 acres of privately-owned and protected farm land, a view of Blue Hill Mountain, and close to all the favorite Maine amenities like swimming ponds, and hiking trails on the Maine Coast Heritage Trust.

I've moved on.  I built this house at a time when I was finding myself.  I was a single gal, hard working trying to make a living in the crafts, and finally embracing the environment in which I could truly feel at peace in.  But times have changed.  I got married, I had a beautiful son, and went back to school to learn and practice Chinese medicine.  I have found a new practice down in Maryland where my ex-husband had decided to settle and my son and I have now have had to embrace.  I've been away from my Maine house for the past 4 years now, and it needs someone to love it again and breath life back into it. The house gave me everything I wanted from it and more.  I am a stronger person because of it, a better mother, healer, and partner.  But now it needs someone to love it in a way that I can't anymore.  I know there is someone out there who can love this home wholeheartedly.  Someone who wants a homestead, wants to take a break from this over-connected/under-connected society we are now turning into, and a place to find peace, in writing, arts, nature, water, an escape or just a simpler life. This is the place to downsize, de-clutter, and disconnect.

Please find me if this sounds like what you are looking for.  If this at all fits a vision you are having or dreamed of, lets see if it can become a reality.  Make me an offer.
